Jorge, originally from Uruguay, has been servicing the Wynwood, Design District, and Buena Vista neighborhoods with his "meals on wheels" before food trucks were cool. He cruises the streets in a little red buggy that can't be missed from 7 a.m. to the late afternoon. The mini-truck probably maxes out at about 40mph, so after a two block not so highspeed chase and a whistle, we were able to catch Jorge for a photo-op.
We wish that we could rant about how delicious his arepas were, but we were stuffed and opted for a soda to thank him for his time. You'll have to let us know how they taste, but it's a safe bet that they are delicious! After all, "Celebrity Chef" helmed restaurants in Miami are lucky to pass the 6-month mark and Jorge has been killing it for over 12 years.
